Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about sourcing scrap metal, plastics, industrial chemicals, and equipment through A.T Global Recycling — covering grades, pricing, logistics, and documentation.

Services

What industrial materials does A.T Global Recycling source in South Africa?

Ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals (aluminum, steel, copper, stainless steel), engineering plastics and polymers (PET, HDPE, PP), industrial chemicals, and decommissioned machinery and equipment — across South Africa and international export markets.

What scrap metal grades do you buy and sell?

Aluminum scrap (taint/tabor, UBC, tense, 6063 extrusion, wire and cable), iron and steel scrap (HMS 1 and 2, shredded, bundled, plate and structural, turnings), copper, stainless steel, lead-acid batteries, and radiators — all to ISRI specifications.

What plastics do you handle?

Post-consumer and post-industrial PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP, and engineering resins (ABS, PC, PA, POM). Available baled, as washed flake, or as regrind.

Pricing and quotes

How do I get a quote?

Submit a quote request describing the material grade, quantity, and your location. Our sourcing team responds with current pricing indexed to LME rates (for metals) and available logistics options.

How is scrap metal pricing set?

Pricing is indexed to prevailing LME (London Metal Exchange) rates and adjusted for grade, contamination, and volume. Logistics costs are broken out separately.

Do you handle spot purchases and long-term contracts?

Yes. We cater for once-off spot purchases and ongoing supply agreements. Long-term contracts include volume-based pricing, dedicated account management, and scheduled logistics coordination.

Logistics and export

Do you offer freight coordination?

Yes. We coordinate end-to-end freight for both local South African delivery and international export. We offer FOB (Free on Board), CFR (Cost and Freight), and CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) trade terms and handle all export documentation and compliance requirements.

Which South African ports do you export through?

We route export shipments through the Port of Durban, Richards Bay, the Port of Cape Town, and Ngqura depending on destination, vessel schedule, and material type.

What is your minimum order quantity?

Most shipments are one container-load (approximately 20 tonnes) or larger. Smaller volumes can be consolidated where logistics permit.

Compliance and documentation

How are materials graded and verified?

Materials are graded against ISRI specifications. We provide chemical analysis, material test reports, and compliance documentation for each shipment.

What documentation do chemical shipments include?

Current SDS, certificate of analysis, UN numbers, packing groups, and GHS labelling verified against South African and destination-country regulations.
